Our Roots & Philosophy
OUTAStays is a collection of shortterm rentals in Western Montana and the Finger Lakes of New York. Created for travelers who want the comfort of a home away from home—not the sterile feel of a hotel room. Each property is intentionally designed with full kitchens, thoughtful amenities, and comfortable gathering spaces, making it easy to cook meals, unwind with friends, or spend quality time with family.
Founded in 2019 by Caressa Compton, OUTAStays began with a single Montana cabin and a simple belief: meaningful travel comes from authentic places, not generic accommodations. Today, the collection spans two distinct regions, each offering its own version of quiet, nature, and connection. Whether it’s a cabin at the end of a mountain road, or a home nestled within a Finger Lakes community by Seneca Lake, NY, every stay is chosen for its sense of place.
Guests choose OUTAStays because they want more than a bed—they want space to cook, relax, gather, and feel at home. With optimized amenities, private settings, and room to breathe, these properties are ideal for couples, families, and small groups seeking comfort without sacrificing character.
OUTAStays invites travelers to slow down, settle in, and experience the kind of stay where you can make breakfast together, share stories around the table, and return from the day’s adventures to a place that feels like it was meant for you.

The Story Behind OUTA

Caressa Compton
Founder & Owner
OUTA began long before it had a name. My life has taken me from Tennessee to Pennsylvania and eventually into the wild quiet of the Rockies—places that taught me that “home” isn’t always a single address. For years now, I move between the Northeast and Montana, carrying home as a feeling rather than a fixed point. Along the way, I learned to trust the pull toward places that feel honest, grounding, and a little off the beaten path.
OUTA is built for people like that—people who step out of line, who choose the road that isn’t the obvious one, who look for experiences that feel real. The kind of travelers who don’t need perfection or polish, but crave space, clarity, and the freedom to be themselves.
When I found my first little Montana cabin in 2019, something clicked. It wasn’t fancy. It wasn’t curated. But it was true. And I knew there were others out there who would feel the same way. OUTAStays grew from that moment: a collection of down to earth homes designed for people who want a space that feels personal, peaceful, and rooted in place.
Whether it’s the stillness of a Montana morning or the easy rhythm of a Finger Lakes community, my hope is that these spaces give you room to slow down, breathe deeper, and reconnect with what matters. OUTA is more than a stay—it’s an invitation to step outside the noise, trust your own pace, and find the view that finds you back.
